The 2013 Sanderson Farms volunteer committees are listed below. Specific openings are not guaranteed. Several committees schedule mandatory training sessions prior to the Sanderson Farms Classic week in order to familiarize volunteers with their specific duties.
Admissions: Sell and issue daily tickets, manage Will Call function and check tickets/credentials at admission gate. Wednesday-Sunday
Caddie Hospitality: Handle caddie registration, distribution and collection of caddie bibs, provide information as needed. Volunteers on this committee will not serve as caddies during the tournament.
Driving Range: Manage the operation of the practice range and all other practice areas. Duties include distributing range balls by brand, and placing the appropriate nameplate to identify each player. Monday-Sunday
Golf Carts: Control inventory and distribution of golf carts to authorized personnel. Everyday
Golf Channel: Assist the Golf Channel in updating scoring information for TV coverage. Thursday-Sunday
Marshals: Ensure players are not disturbed during play, spot balls, assist with starting tents when neccesary and enforce crowd control and golf etiquette among spectators. Wednesday–Sunday
Media Tent: Assist with the daily operation of the media room. Some duties may include making copies or assisting with scheduled interviews.
Office Staffing: Assist with clerical work, answering phones, and various public relations initiatives, and greeting visitors in Tournament Office. Volunteers begin working in advance of the tournament. Everyday
On-Course Services: Stock and deliver on-course refreshments and ice to tee boxes. May require heavy lifting. Monday-Sunday
Player Scoring & Registration: Duties include welcoming players and providing them with necessary credentials plus general information about the tournament and surrounding area. Monday-Thursday
ShotLink: Record and transmit shot locations of professionals to the ShotLink system, while stationed greenside or at fairway landing zones. Transmission achieved via the use of hand held Palm Pilots and stationary tripod cameras. ShotLink volunteers may be required to climb onto a platform which can be more than 6 feet off the ground. ShotLink training required prior to tournament week. Thursday – Sunday
Standard Bearers: Responsible for carrying a two-sided scoring standard, which is a portable status board, and for posting players’ scores to keep spectators posted on how each player stands with respect to par, both in the round being played and cumulatively. Transportation: Receive, inventory and control issuance of courtesy cars. Meet players, officials and designated guests at airport and assist them with their transportation needs. Drive shuttle vehicles between hotels and course for players’ family members, officials and designated guests. Must be over 25 years of age and have a valid driver’s license. Before, during, and after tournament week; some early mornings and late evenings based on player flights.
Volunteer Headquarters: Responsible for the operation of the Volunteer Headquarters during Tournament Week. Duties include managing morning and afternoon meal service and assisting with general volunteer questions. etc. Monday-Sunday – early mornings and late afternoons
Walking Scorers: Record accurate hole-by-hole information for each player in group and transmit this information to Scoring Central via handheld computers. Must have thorough knowledge of golf, be comfortable working with handheld computer and be able to walk 18 holes regardless of weather conditions. Wednesday–Sunday
